Ive been working on my 3rd buck ever. The antlers were off a skull found by my boyfriend, and the cape I bought from a guy in Montana for really cheap....the result is this guy, he is mounted so that when he is hung on a wall it looks like he is jumping through it. He isnt perfect. But Im trying to improve each time I do a mount.

Nope, Ive been using Krowtann...and I havent gotten much shrinkage on any of my mounts. I do tend to use alot of hide paste though. So im sure that helps.

Are you skiping salt? I guess if you are caping and tanning, you would not have to salt. We are always several months out and everything gets salted. Without salt, you would have a lot less shrinkage......Hmmmmmm

I try to salt ALL my hides for a few days before I throw it in the K-tan. I know you dont have to do this step when using K-tan, but its amazing to me how much moisture is pulled out of a hide by salting it. Its just a step I like to do, besides..I think the chemicals will be better absorbed when there isnt all that junk moisture in a hide and in the solution mixture. The only time I skip this step is if I have a hide that is really iffy.
A few coyotes I had this past winter were slipping bad. Big clumps out of the belly and tail...I threw them in the Krowtann immediatly and rotated them lightly once a day..the fur seemed to lock in place and both yotes mounted up fine.
