Picked up an Encore 50 cal muzzle loader for saturdays gun opener. Put a 1.5 to 6 simmons with the pro diamond reticule. Sighted in and I am really excited about it. Just thought I would let you know. 59.gif coolsmiley.gif

Dude,

I did the same thing............got the stainless w/ composite stock, and I absolutely love the gun. Took it to the range on friday and it shot so well I hunted with it this morning instead of my usual 30-30. Put a cheap 2.5 by 7 scope on it and I was shooting two inch groups.

Just becareful I shot it a lot on friday and the breech plug tried to seize up on me even with plenty of anti-seize goop on it.

Good luck-

The Encore is bad about that my understanding it is caused by the 209
primer. there is another primer that eminimates this i just caint find them in my area. zzI shoot the extended range black diamond with
the composit stock. That stock is noisey in the stand and i have ordered the walnut stock from TC.

Ok 2 shots at deer and 2 deer dead. We are trying to thin the doe population and I took 2 of them I thought. However one was a 140lb buck with both his antlers broken right off at the bases. Only a 1.5 year old. Felt kinda bad about that. Thqt gun shoots! coolsmiley.gif

I'm looking at getting another barrel for my Encore, does anybody know do I need to get a different forend for it as well?

Not trying to hijack the thread...........just curious. sad.gif

I have a 12 gauge muzzle loading barrel and the 209/50 muzzle loader that was mentioned as a new toy. The shotgun forend fits the 209/50. There is a little gap on the 209/50 about 1/16 inch. So they can be swapped. However I think depending on what barrel or barrels you may be intrested in that yes you would need a new forarm. Just guessing but I think that you could actually use the heavy barrel forend with the tapered barrel and hardly notice the difference. Hope I helped.

So the heavy barrels and the standard barrels all have different forends? What about the regular (not the muzzleloader) shotgun barrels? Like the Thread states this is a "new toy" so I'm just exploring my options.........

Love the gun, though.

Thanks for the helpful input.....

Oh, Mbowerman- where in upstate? I'm in Callicoon on the Pa boder, just south of Binghamton.

I would think that you could use the 12gauge shotgun barrel on the heavy barrel just like I can use the 12guage muzzle loader forend on the 209/50. There may be a slight gap but not to much. biggrin.gif
