Forgot to mention the long quiet day it was out there for opener, it was too quiet. 11 hours in 1 stand Grrrr Grrrr it was pretty damn cold up there in the valley tree.

Rumor has it the biggest bear to be checked in was over 700 pounds and another bear over 600 pounds . Not bad for a state that does " NOT have bears in it ".

We got pounded and still are getting alot of snow . Should make it fun out there .

I hunted zone 8 most of the week! I took a big spike on Monday. I heard over 30 shots before I left around 3pm...Didn't get out Tuesday...Took a doe on Wednseday. I heard 6 shots..Didn't get out Thursday... Hunted in the snow storm with friends at Pequest on Friday! What an awesome day to be in the woods! Out of the 4 of us we could only manage 1 big doe! 120lbs!! I also had a BIG owl almost take my hat off while doing a drive through a cedar thicket! Cool looking bird! Scared the crap out of me! The woods were a little bit eerie at times with the snow falling that hard! It was dark and noisy which made it a little spooky in those dark cedars! Friday I hunted close to home for a bear but came up empty! It was a great week spent with great friends and family! I'll be out again for the doe days in zone 8!
