We've been many times since Oct. 1 and still haven't seen a live deer anywhere. I've got one more weekend out there with my muzzleloader this weekend.... sure hope I at least SEE something... unsure.gif blowup.gif

I've been out nearly every day of the Southern Mich. black powder season. Been about as cold as I've seen it for quite some time. In a couple places deer are active well before dark, in others, all activity seems to be between 8:pm and 5:00 am. Looks like it depends upon how much baiting is taking place in the neighborhood. Got PICS of 6 seperate bucks at my neighbors bait pile Monday night.

He has not seen a deer at that stand in 7 days now. censored.gif

Until I showed him the PICS, he felt all of the deer had been "kilt off". All in all it has been a slow season to say the least. Sure glad I filled some tags during the early bow hunts. biggrin.gif

Recurve, I live and hunt in Eaton county. Mostly hunting around Charlotte and Potterville. Saw 12 tonight. One small buck, but I'm hunting antlerless right now. I got a new inline smoke pole and wanted to see what it can do to warm beasts. I hunt the late archery season hard, but with the changes in the Southern Mich blackpowder season this year, I figured it would be fun and a lot warmer to hunt with the gun. I usually hunt the West end of the UP between x-mas and Jan 1 to finish out the season. Sonds like they have a good bit of snow there now. My youngest son goes to Mich. Tech says there is over 30" there. It is a good hunt for meat, but the bucks usually have dropped their antlers by x-mas most years.

we were out thur and fri between the 3 of us we only saw 8 deer in 2 morning and 2 evening hunts. that sucked. we only bait this time of year so we can shoot a couple of does off and this year isnt that easy yet. they hit the bait hard, lots of sign but they are coming in at night. had my cam up on video mode and only 2 daytime videos. put it back out on the best of the bait piles on pic mode and i will go get it this week to see what is going on.
boy it was nice thur morning at 9 degrees in the morning and 25 in the evening. friday it was 26 but the wind was terrible. maybe we will have better luck next weekend. good luck to everyone for what we have left of the season.

The season has finally ended here in Michigan. Finished up as usual in the West end of the UP. Hunted 5 days, saw 80-90 animals. All bucks had already shed. Had 3 nice bucks come in together, one of which was a true 200# brute. He had antler bases the size of orange juice cans.
Did end up taking a doe new years eve that dressed 152#. An old girl 9 1/2+ years. It is always amazing to see this many animals after the firearm season ends, especially when everyone else feels the herd has been shot off.
Time to start thinking about turkeys. cheers.gif
