You bet, 8Wide, I'm a NYS native. Originally from southerntier, Broome County, now reside in Jefferson County near Watertown. My big focus in on upland bird hunting over pointing dogs but I also am a serious deer hunter. Glade to see another NY Stater here, 8Wide, tell us about yourself and you interests.

thanks birdog. I am from syracuse and have been hunting around here most of my life. Mostly deer but started to do a little turkey hunting last year. The deer you see in the picture was an 8 point that i took this year that scored 136 4/8 the biggest one i have taken. Myself and some friends are looking to do a public land hunt in iowa this year any body have any info...

thanks bob

From NY live in Syracuse area hunt mostly in Western Ny (Grew up there). Glad someone started this with the Game Cameras, just started to try to build them. Have as much fun setting them out and checking them as I used to have trapping. Have had a bunch of help from one of the members who sells them now and then.
Thanks wayattbuck. biggrin.gif

Hey Guys I live in NY! I live in a small town called Greenville, in Orange county. Great to see some other guys from NY here!

Hey, New York here. I live on Long Island but have a house in Cairo NY in Greene county. The hunting in my area is very pressured and even though I have been filming very large bucks at night with the spotlight and nightvision camera (some the same size you see in the movies like Texas) I have yet to harvest or even see one in the woods during daylight. I have an odd hunting situation with the land I hunt but I will stop rambling on now. If you want to chat or know more, post a reply. Good Luck New Yorkers! And don't miss this season of the Drury Biologic Challange on The Outdoor Channel, one of the teams is planting food plots in New York!

Hi Buck Buck8075! Thanks for your post. You’re not the only one that has that problem. Where I live in Orange County it's the same thing. Once they feel the pressure they go totally nocturnal. Only chance you have is the first day of Bow, and then maybe during the rut, but the rut here lately seems to be non-existent. They seem to rut only at night also!! mad.gif I would love to see some of the video you have taken of these Big Boys! Can you post the footage some place, or could you email me a clip. Thanks, and I hope to see you here again soon!

Hi Guys,

I live in Ulster County in the small town of Highland. Howdie Rebbie, I work in Newburgh and am fairly familiar with O.C. Although, I have never hunted there. Have you ever hunted/scouted the Stewart Buffer area?

Buck8075, I hunt near the Ulster/Greene border up in the mountains. The deer are few and far between, but there are always some really big bucks that come out of seclusion during the rut. The western part of Greene got hit really hard by the gypsy moth/tent catapillars this year. Miles and miles of leafless trees. You might be alright in Cairo, its not as bad as you head east.

I have been bowhunting for about ten years now. I am really excited about the antler restrictions that are going into place in my county this year. "Three on one side or you gotta let it slide". It may not be perfect, but its a start.

I found this site looking to make my own trail cameras and am about to give it a shot. Just got all my parts in to get started.

Welcome Ryan! This trail cam stuff can get real addicting! I never built my own camera, but I have bought 3 digital Trail Cams over the past year, which was made by professionals here on this site! I am in the process of buying my 4th Digital trail cam now!! I wish my area would do the same as yours, and put some kind of antler restriction in place!! Most guys around here have the saying "if it's brown it's down". I have been practicing DQM for almost 16 years now, before I knew it had a name! I have always let the small ones walk. Good luck building your first Trail Camera!
