Hey every one, I'm new to this site! Just wanted some opinions..
Well I jus got a T/C Renegade .54 cal, its not brand new, but fairly new, just wondering what u guys think of them? Are they good guns? I've had one problem so far with mine, the cap wasnt lightin the powder and shootin, but I got it all figured out...So if ya guys can give me some advice, I'd love to hear it! And some opinions on what u guys think of the gun.

:welcome: Can't go wrong with T/C. The primer pocket was plugged, may be a sign the gun wasn't always cleaned properly. I always recomend stainless, but the standard blue barrels shoot just as fine just not as forgiving to corrosion. You have a lot of knock down power with a 54 cal my only complaint after owning one is harder to find bullets, and some other accessories. They are availible just can't go down to the local store, most places stock 50 cal stuff. You will have a lot of fun hunting with it, so enjoy.

Ya, I kinda figured that was what the problem was, but its all fixed now...Umm, ya it is hard to find ammo and other stuff for it, but once I do find the right stuff, Im gunna buy extra stuff so that I dont have to get any more for a long time!! Haha
Well thanks for the info! Much appreciated!

Hey, Guys.......contact Bob or Dean Parker, of Parker Productions. They are in the muzzleloader bullet making business. I've known them for a long, long time. Bob is a retired Baptist minister, and a fine craftsman. Traditions buys hundreds of thousands of bullets from Parker Productions. Traditions markets Parker's bullets as the T-Shock. Anyway, almost every manufacturer sends their guns to Parkers to be wrung out and tested. I guarantee you Parkers will know what bullet will shoot in your muzzleloader. Furthermore, there is no problem whatsoever catering to the .54-caliber shooters. Parker Productions Website

I've had a Renegade .54 for over 10 years now. Blued barrel and solid wood stock. I love shooting that gun. I put a fiber optic bead on the front and T/C's tang peep on the back.

I've tried all kinds of bullets in that gun. From conicals to sabots to powerbelts. Ironically, the best results I ever got were with the old round balls with the T/C prelubed patches. I've only shot one deer (spike) with the rifle and it was with a round ball. Quartering away at 50 yards. Hit him behind the near shoulder and the bullet stopped just under the skin of his chest. He only ran 50 yards and fell over within sight. Lungs and heart were tore up. Just goes to show you that the bullet doesn't have to be fancy if you make a clean shot to the vitals.

I never liked shooting the sabots. Too hard to load. But I'm going to try some of the powerbelts and T/C maxi-ball and maxi-hunters again this year. It's fun just getting to the range and throwing those huge chunks of lead down range.
