Well guys, I have posted here about my TC Omega and how much I love that guy. But, I had a weak moment lately and just couldn't help myself. Below are some pics of a new TC Encore that I picked up. It is 1 of 300 Special Limited Edition 50 Cal. "Whitetail Extreme". Special laminated woodgrain stock, stainless barrel, gold colored fighting bucks on the side, and topped off with a Leupold Var-III 2x8 scope. Looking forward to the coming season in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, and Iowa . . . and anywhere else I can get a license to hunt with it. LOL LOL LOL

That's sweet looking. If it shoots anything like the encore your going to love it.. Is this the start of a before and after? 59.gif

I hope this is the BEFORE with the new gun. Then I can post a BEFORE on the monster buck that I find with a camera. Then I can post the after of both of them together. That WOULD be sweet.

Now what are you going to do with the old one. biggrin.gif http://realdealhuntingchat.invisionzone.co...php?showforum=9 ?

No, Dwayne, it is not going in the Sell and Swap section. Nice try. I still love my Omega but I just couldn't help myself with this Encore. One of my weaknesses. LOL LOL LOL

Bob,That is one h@ll of a nice looking muzzleloader. coolsmiley.gif Almost too nice to take out hunting. If it shoots as good as it looks you have one great gun.

coolsmiley.gif Beautiful Encore you have there! The first one of those special editions I've seen. I first thought you had spilled something on the frame until I enlarged the photo and saw the (looks like gold) inlayed fighting bucks. (I think that's what they are?) Super nice! If you ever want to get rid of the plywood stock ohmy.gif I can hook you up with a nice piece of (solid) figured walnut. Been doing some stockmaking on the side. Here are 2 that I just finished. Thanks woundedknee, appreciate that comment.

Rick243: PLYWOOD!!!!???? Man you are really busting my chops here. I love that stock. That's one reason I bought it. You drove a dagger through my heart. Everytime I carry that gun and look at it now I will think of PLYWOOD.

Boy, those walnuts stocks are beautiful Great work. cheers.gif cheers.gif What's the cost of a stock like that for my Encore? You can PM me with the info if you like, so you can give me a big discount, while keeping everybody else at your going price. LOl LOL LOL

That's called the "You busted my chops discount!!!" roflmao.gif roflmao.gif

Didn't mean any offense papabob!! I would have thought TC would have treated that 1 in 300 rifle to a nice piece of Walnut after doing all that nice metalwork. Laminated stocks have their place and some look terrific. They are also much stronger than any solid wood stock. But strength is not going to be an issue with that Encore cause I have a feeling you will be carrying it around like a newborn baby! Not running over it with your ATV or dropping it out of your treestand I hope. I'll PM you with some pics of one I am finishing now, unless you prefer the thumbhole style which will take a while longer. If you like a bit lighter colored stock I have some really nice fiddleback and burl maple that is just getting ready to work. I cut and season all my own wood so I don't have any huge amount invested in the raw materials, other than my time doing something I enjoy very much. This is not my living, only a hobby. Rick

old thread but I had to comment.

First off, cool looking gun you got there papabob. congrats on the collectors edition. cheers.gif

My brothers got me a new Encore 209x50 as a wedding gift two years ago at christmas. All I asked them for was an Encore rifle in a deer caliber. The encore was in short supply at the time and they looked for a long time before they found this one. (In fact, that extra Christmas present was almost 1 1/2 years after the wedding.) It's stainless with a brown laminated stock. Sharp looking rifle. This will sound sacriligious, but I didn't get a chance to sight it in last year before season so I didn't get to hunt with it. bag.gif Not the case this year. I'm going to the range this week to finish sighting it in. I love hunting with muzzleloaders, and this rifle is a treat.

I've always shied away from stainless rifles. I always thought they would be too shiny. But the matte finish on the encore is probably duller than many of the blued barrels that I have seen. I've never been a fan of synthetic stocks either. So seeing this one with the laminated wood was a treat. You can't go wrong with solid walnut, and those are some beautiful stocks you made Rick. But it always brings a tear to my eye when a stock like that gets that first big scratch. Even though this laminated stock looks nice, I don't think it will bother me when it gets a few character marks.

Good luck to all you smokepoler's this year.
