I am in the market for a new bow this year, and have just started looking. I have a fairly short draw length at 27" and one of the local shops showed me the new Bowtech Equalizer, which is designed for short draw lengths. It's "birth certificate" showed 297 fps at 26.5" draw. This was a 300 gr arrow, and 60 lbs. quite remarkable really.
I have never really been a speed demon, really focusing on quiet more than anything. I really am a PSE fan, and I like the new AR bows. Their new 35SD is for short draw archers, and rates 294 fps IBO.
Does anyone have any suggestions or comments?

PSE, I was in the market for new bow 4 years ago and someone told me to try a Bowtech. The trouble was that I was left eye dominant and shot right handed for over 20 years. The owner of Archery shop that sold Bowtechs told me that I should try shooting left handed. He set me up with a Bowtech Patriot and in a hour I was grouping arrows in bullseye at 20 yards. 59.gif This bow was quiet, smooth, and fast. My son bought a Liberty 2 years ago and it is even more quiet and smoother yet, a tad slower than mine, but plenty fast. I guess what I am saying is at least try the Bowtech I am very pleased with mine. If I were you I would try to shoot both bows and what ever one feels the best, buy it.

I know this is a very old topic, but seing you are a PSE fan, I would bring this back up.
PSE X-FORCE SD(short draw) max draw length of 27" like the Equalizer. The brace height is shorter at 6 9/16"

My wife shoots an Equalizer and has shot a slew of animals at very low weights. Quite an efficient bow. Not sure what she will shoot for the rest of 2008. Most likely a custom X-Force SS

Well said Tarheeler. Shoot as many as you can and choose for yourself with no regards to brand name.
