Crossbows bring out some interesting attitudes from some people, like a compound bow does to a traditionalist. I'm for crossbows personally and hope it helps increases our numbers of those who take up the sport of hunting.

Crossbows can allow many people who can not use a "conventional" bow get in the woods. Also people such as my Girl being 90lbs can shoot only a limited distance with sufficiant kinetic energy to kill cleanly. So when we hunt hogs in texas or axis deer, the Striker X-Bow allows her to easily and accuratly shoot out to 60 yards and have more kinetic energy than any Compound bow has.

Crossbow longbow compound bow spear pistol rifle shotgun anything you can hunt with I'm all for it. Some think that the crossbow or any other thing they don't use should not be allowed because it takes away some of "their" game. Live and let live.

I see no reason they can't be used during an archery or gun season. For some people it's probably a favorite. Some day I may not be able to draw a bow and it would be nice to know I can switch and keep hunting during the quiet season of archery. From what I've been told by people who use them, crossbows aren't more powerful than a compound bow.

That is all a matter of perspective, but for example The Stryker x-bow made by Bowtech shoots a 425 grain bolt at 405 guaranteed feet per second. That produces around 150 kinetic foot lbs of energy. That is more than double the average bowhunters compound bow for kinetic energy.

Here is a link to my hunting site gallery. The first picture is a few kills with the Stryker x-bow

my father shoots a ten point crossbow, i shoot a mathews compound, i can tell you that there is one and ONLY one advantage a crossbow has over a compound and that is the ability to take a shot without pulling the bow back first.
i have no problem with crossbow hunters
