Pup Daddy
Ok, here goes. I live in KY. My dad and I have bowhunted some property outside of Tell City(I guess you would say southern Indiana) the past 2 years. The first year(2004)we hunted there it seems we hit the rut perfect. It was the week of November 7-13. In those 6 days we saw 142 deer between us and that was only out of our stands. Bucks were chasing heavy all week. Then last year(2005)I took vacation around the same week November 6-12. In those 6 days we saw 46 deer out of our stands but they were not even chasing. It was extremely warm the whole week. Was last years rut late or earlier than the 6-12? Reason for the question is I have this years vacation scheduled for November 5-11. Can someone give me an opinion on when this years rut will be. I can change my vacation to any week. The shotgun week always follows the week we're there and I wouldn't care to bowhunt during this week if the big boys are chasing! tongue.gif Any info or opinions are appreciated.

Pupdaddy, the rut can be effected by many things one of them is weather. If it was extremely warm most of the activity was more that likely at night. Some say that the moon phase has a lot to do with the rut also.

I know that for Wisconsin, last year's rut was goofy, due to some warm weather.

Here in NW Wisconsin, we typically find that October 29 - November 11th are the best days to bow hunt (at least that is when the bigger bucks are usually shot on out property)

COnsidering you are quite farther South, I would think Nov. 5th - 15th should be a decent time, but I'm just guessing.
