Yes, I do. I got one a couple of years ago. Last year I bought a double-bull blind and plan on hunting from it this spring. Last Fall, while hunting from it for deer I had tons of gobblers within 5-10 yards of the front of the blind. I know it will be an asset in getting my spring gobbler this season.

I do as well and LOVE IT!!!! I have Bow hunted spring Gobblers for the last few years and would not consider it without my Double Bull Blind. I have shot Rocket Hammerhead 2" cut heads in the past but will be shooting the Gobbler Guillotines this spring.
Fletched up a 6-scheme blazer vane on a Gold Tip Pro 400 shaft and it is sweet! By the way if any one needs a Double Bull blind I am a dealer! ;)

I bought the BS 5 blind out of necessity last fall. Injured my knee and the surgeon finally had an opening for me on Sept. 28th. That's 2 days before the Mich. Bow deer opener. Opening day found me hobbling into my double-bull on crutches. My son carried all my gear in and got me all set. Comfortable camp chair, left leg in a straight leg cast from my toes to my upper thigh, lots of ibuprophen, and my Hoyt Ultra-Tec bow. At 9:30 am I killed a nice 7 pt. Shot right through the mesh window and double-lunged him. Went 30 yards. Man what a thrill to be back on the ground and have a buck 8 yards away and get the shot off. My heart was going like a trip hammer. See pics below. Not a monster but considering the situation I was really pleased.

Wanted to bowhunt for turkeys this spring until I realized.......I don't have a portable blind.lol. I might be able to do it in my grandpa's whitetail shanny.

Eric: That should work for you. Just put out a couple of inexpensive decoys( hen and strutting Jake ) and you should get some longbeards to come in close. Their attention will be focused on the decoys so you can unload on them.
Is you Grandpa's blind back in the woods or out on the edge of field? Lots of visibility should help if the birds normally use that area.
Good luck.

His shanny is in the woods. He has about a 7ft wide lane cut back for a long ways thats to the left of it. It will make for a good shot if they are in the lane.

Sounds like a plan. Is the shack big enough for you to easily make a shot? I really like being able to shoot through the camo netting. I killed that buck doing that. They just can't see through that stuff. It is a thrill to stick those birds. Go get'em.

yea it is big. Plenty of room. Can fit a few people in it. Seat is all the way on the right by the wall and the whole left where the door is is empty. I dont know about that shoot through netting. I dont see how it dont affect your shot. Its gotta hit your arrow and throw it off a little bit. But a bullet is prob a diff story. No prob to get through that. But then again....do people bow hunt wiht the shoot through netting??
PaPaBob
Mar 12 2005, 11:06 PM
Absolutely. The netting on the Double-bull(see pic above) is taut and very sheer. It is colored camo and is very fine. Almost like a woman's wedding dress netting. It does not affect the arrow flight. Just zip and it's through it. That's why they developed the double-full with the netting. It really works great. They said you can shoot 60-70 times through that one window before you have to replace it. They will do that for you or you can buy the netting and do it yourself. If you have a door to shoot out of in your blind you could take a piece of it up there and sit behind it and shoot right through it. Don't know the cost of the stuff but can't be too much.

lol you sound like you have a few wedding dresses in your closet. Your secret is now out. lol. shoot through 60-70 times is pretty good before you gotta replace it. You wouldn't think it would cost too much.

papabob, I think I have seen those pictures before, you e-mailed them to me when we 1st talked last winter. Nice Job Buddy
Eric, You can shoot any broadhead you want through the mesh EXCEPT the mechanical broadheads with the fingers or ears on the blades example: Rocket mini-blasters will work but Rocket sidewinders will not.

AntlerMan(aka: gslam): Yes, I did and would but didn't know who I was talking to until a few minutes when OBH let the cat out of the bag. Nice to see or hear and old face/friend. Yes, i love my DB blind. It sure puts you back in the hunt at the ground level. Looking for that rush again and the DB seems to have been the ticket.

Here a pic for you from my video cam. As yo can see from the pics above I have the Sony Camcorder sticking through the bottom of the mesh and I got the entire shot on video. This still show the arrow on its way just before hitting the deer. See the white blur on his side. Had him standing his favorite pile of carrots when I took him.

Mar 16 2005, 06:43 PM
greatwhitehunter1: This was a 1.5 yr.old buck. 7 point. Weighing in at about 130 lbs. Nothing big but the fact that I was crippled up with a full leg cast and hunting from a ground blind for the first time in ages was signficant. Really got my heart pumping being so close and on the ground level. He looked right at me in the Double-Bull blind numerous times and I thought sure he would bolt. But the carrot dinner and the great camo effect of the blind did the trick.
Here is a link to a short video of the shot itself. He stood there for about 4-5 minutes before he shifted around to where I could slip an arrow into his chest. You will see the arrow come in from the upper right. I had the Sony trv38 miniDV cam in the lower left of the blind sticking under the camo screen. Enjoy. . .

Yes, it was great to capture and replay the shot. I videotaped many deer last year and had a great time with my new cam. I bought a camera am from Pine Ridge Archery and it works great at positioning and allows you to videotape your shot in a tree over your shoulder. They also sell a Turkey Pod that sticks into the ground. I used that one in the DB to take this video. Worked great.

My dad videotapes all his hunts in the gun season and muzzleloader when he is in his tree stand. Do lots of videotaping in the early season too. We have tons of videos from hunting. Even have a video of when a turkey was chasing me. lol. guess thats what happens when you try to get REALLY close to her babies. Couldnt see them through the grass. She almost went into the air after me.

This is my first year to bowhunt turkeys from a ground tent blind. I have an Ameristep Brickhouse, nice and roomy. Never have taken one with a bow, I missed one from the ground with my Blackwidow recurve a few years back. A big ole Tom. Called him in off the roost in a cypress bottom. Just cut feathers over his back
I have a good opportunity this year. My blind has been out for 2 weeks in the same spot where I took a nice Tom last year with the Rem. 870. Hopefully I'll have a pic to share later.

One of the only nice things about hunting in my state is that our fall turkey season and our archery deer season share a couple of weeks. I have only hunted archery for two years now and I have taken two nice toms. 1 each year. I don't really hunt for them but if they present themselves....well they are goood eatin! The first one, I had my son with me and he was able to video it allbeit a little shakey.
Not the best pic but...
