what do u shot i do both but like traditinal better u? and what kind u have?

I have taken up muzzleloading to extend my season with another method of chasing the wiley whitetails. My first love is bowhunting which I do to excess, just ask my wife. And the firearms season has always been there for me. But, I finally broke down and said I am missing another season by not buying a muzzleloader. So, I bought a T/C Omega 50 cal. See pic below. SST barrel, laminated stock, Leopold 2x7 shotgun scope in brushed black finish. Really a great looking gun. Now for the performance. Started out shooting Powerbelt bullets. Worked just fine for me for a couple of years. Then I tried the T/C Shockwave, which is the Hornady SST??? bullet. These are 45 cal bullets in a really tight sabot. Learned to shoot them this past season with this gun. They are made to be shot out of a clean barrel. The Powerbelts always seemed to shoot better out of a dirty barrel. They were a little undersized. But, the Shockwave sabots are really tight. So, you must swab the barrel clean between shots so that you have a chance to load it up. Really tight if you have a dirty barrel. 1" groups at 100 yards and 1.5" at 150. I can't complain about that. Now I am using this gun on some outofstate hunts for some monster whitetails mid western hunts.

That's about it for me.

That gun is a beast Bob. Must have costed alot. I've read about them shockwave bullets. Sound pretty good.

That you Eric? Do you have a muzzleloader or are you still dreaming about getting one? I really like the T/C Omega as you can tell from my post. It shoots fantastic especially since I moved over to the Shockwave bullets. Had to learn how to load it properly for good groupings but as long as you keep the barrel swabbed and clean between shots it just keeps laying them in there very accurately.

I got a muzzleloader. Can't remember what kind it is.lol. Its got a sweet grip going all the way down and around the gun. It looks pretty cool. The wierd thing is that the bolt stays back and then u just put the safety off and she shoots from there. If it snows or rains i gotta be careful and shut the thing so it dont get all messed up. Dont particularly like that but the gun gets the job done.

Hey guys, I shoot a Knight LK-93. About 5 years old. Would like to get
a newer one someday. Changed to a 409 primer. Best thing i ever did.
Love the thumbhole stock. Also love the stainless barrel. A buddy bought
one at the same time with a blued barrel and it rusted away long ago.
Mines still in perfect shape. It shoots best with Barnes Red Hot Bullets.
I usually hunt early season.(less pressure and it's warmer). Although
some years i don't see much that early.

Great gun. Sweet scrape.

I'm with PaPaBob on this one. I bought a T/C omega about two years ago and have really been impressed with the accuracy. The only thing I do differently is I use the Dead Center 220 grain bullets, with Triple 7 powder and I replaced the 209 primers with the .25 acp primed casing ignition system. I'm shooting sub moa groups at 100 yards. I also added a leupold 3.5 to 9 varix 3 scope. It really makes a killer setup. The last thing I added was a rifle sling by slogan industries, you know the guy on TV. It's an all rubber gun sling, not the prettiest thing you ever looked at but it is the first sling I've found that really does work. I had a real nice padded leather sling for years and you couldn't take 10 steps without it sliding down your shoulder. With this rubber sling it just hangs tight wherever you put it. I hiked for more than a mile with the rubber sling and didn't have to move it back up my shoulder even once! I highly recommend the sling if you do a lot of walking and want your gun to stay put. I should add that I was not using the "split strap" on either side of my head, I was just using it as you would any other shoulder strap.

TRADITIONAL... THE ONLY WAY!
3 deer & 1 bear with it so far.

PaPaBob
Hares Ear Nymph: Great gun. Congrats on the fine record. But, if you are going to be a traditionalist and shoot that gun you must clean up your vocabulary. A true traditionalist is going to refer to a "bear" as a "Barrrr". Let's get it right. Put that traditional Kentucky drawl into that name.

LOL LOL LOL roflmao.gif roflmao.gif

IowaBucks: That is a great gun also. If you get them to shoot straight and pack enough wallop and it only shoots one at a time that you qualify for an elite group of gun hunters.

Congrats!!!

Kentucky isn't traditional. Kentucky rifles are actually taken after the Pennsylvania longrifles. Davey Crocket carried a PA longrifle. No southern drawl in PA tongue.gif
PaPaBob
Yea, I'm from Michigan What do I know??? But, you try telling that b. . . to a guy from Kentucky and you will have an argument on your hands, but I am not going to get into that one.

SAVAGE 10ML,BARNES 300 GRAIN MZ SABOTS AND ACCURATE ARMS 5744 SMOKELESS POWDER ARE THE ONLY WAY TO GO!!! MY OPINION OFCOURSE!!
wildebeast
My muzzle loader is a little larger bore, but I shot the top out of a cottonwood tree with one shot at 200 yards. Where I hit the tree it was about 10 inches in diameter.

My favorite bullet is a coors light silver bullet beer can using 3oz of triple x black powder.

Best deer load is 4 lbs of 1 inch steel ball bearings. Not only do you get the deer but you clear half the timber and brush in the area.
