mdl,

awesome set of plinkers you got there. My wife caught me off guard a few Christmas' ago and got me a 1022.

(I know, how'd I get so lucky to find a girl like that right?) I was running around the living room squealing louder than the kids. Well, I actually just sat there dumbfounded with drool running down my chin.
Anyways. It shoots OK, but I've always daydreamed about turning it into a tack driver. I'd like it to shoot like your 'same hole at 50 yds rifle' but I don't want to break the bank either. I really only need a 'hit a squirrel in the head at 50 yds' rifle.

I always linger on those pages in Cabela's and Bass Pro to look at all the 1022 stuff. I'm not familiar with the KIDD products you used, but I'm sure there are dozens of guys out there who make special stuff for the 1022. How does KIDD, Green Mountain, Volquartsen compare as far as quality vs price. If I cold only do one thing right now to make mine shoot better, what would you suggest? Trigger more important, or a new barrel?
Also, what kind of 22LR ammo do you like the best? I haven't tried any of the sub-sonic or hyper-velocity stuff yet. My only criteria in the past has been jacketed bullets over the lead. The lead bullets felt "sticky" and didn't cycle very well, causing a lot of jams. The jacketed bullets seem to be "slicker" to the touch and cycled very well. Of course, I'm shooting the box of 500 specials right now and don't expect too much accuracy out of them.
BTW: thanks for getting me daydreaming about my 1022 again. I almost had it out of my system until next squirrel season rolls around. oh the pain!!!
