I want to take the time to thank many of you for the input on these deer attractants i have sent to you for testing. I know i have not received input from everyone because i am sure a lot of you have been waiting for season to begin to do your testing which i totally understand. Pete at Captiveone on the forum has really been a tremendous help evaluating many formulas i have sent to him. Petes feedback continues to be priceless to this on going research project. For any of you that have not contacted him he has some great info. i am sure he would be more than happy to share with you. His meticulous and precise methods for testing are as professional as it gets. Just remember as it starts to get cooler and the food forage starts to deplete you are going to see many of these attractant formulas performing as winners. I have a good feeling there will be some big bucks that will be taken because of these attractants. Thanks again and God Bless you all. Jerry (You can contact me anytime at 800-638-7245)

Jerry, I agree that the forumulas seem to be working and should generate some serious deer activity in the following weeks. I'm excited to see what happens. However, I am out of forumula
Thanks for the chance to help you out.

Jerry and all, Just returned from a quick North. Was able to put out 10 samples of 62106-A, one of the new ones. This one has great promis and needs to be looked at further. Had one faulty cam( dead batts)

So got 9 good samples. Had 22 different deer at 7 of the 9. Also had yote and the normal r-coons. I think they like the "chocolate" odor. All were a tthe site of the sample and sniffing or digging at it. Here's a sample of Pics.

Let me know how it works. I want to scale up to a large mix of attractant but i am going to wait until all the data is compiled and i am sure a lot of the guys are biting at the bullet to see what these attractants are going to do during hunting season. This should be a lot of fun coming soon for all of us to see what the real deal is going to be. Your testing and feedbacks have been priceless and thanks is not enough. Let me know if you need more of the 62106-A. God Bless Pete. Jerry gloss1@earthlink.net

Jerry, I wanted to check out the activity at one of my local hunting spots so I set out 5 cams on the property for just one day. I used thew last of my 62106-A because I wanted something I KNEW would attract animals. Had deer at all sites. I had multiple pics of these two bucks plus several other deer. The sample was sprayed on the dogwood and cherry brush in each PIC. ( Pappy, Tree stands went up this morning.)

Cyber,
I have settled on putting the samples on nearby vegetation ( ferns/leaves of small brush etc) or standing trees with rough corky bark ( such as elm, ash, white oaks etc) or dead logs/snags. The purpose of the attractant is to bring a deer in close for viewing or a hunter and not necessarilarly a place where they would come back to day after day like a bait. In envisioned the attractant to be used by a hunter who would spray it around the stand, and allowing the wind to disbures the scent. This scent could then be picked up by deer moving through the area and hopefully interest them enough to come come to the spot to investigate the scent. I figured deer would better pick up the scent if it was up off the ground and scent particles free floating in the air. All of the afore mentioned hold the scent up off the ground.
I also quickly settled in to spraying it on the vegetation etc with a spray bottle. Using either a fine mist (for leaves/ferns etc) or a stream spray for the corky bark and dead logs/ snags etc. I hve been using a standard "20 squirts" per site. That appears to be a little less than an ounce of the product. I was able convince Jerry to put the samples in small spray bottles which I have used since Late May.
I have kept my evaluations standard so I could more easily evaluate the results. I use a number of samples ( I try to get at out at least 12-15 sites) and then compare the results between samples. I have the luxury of having two dozen identical cams that I can use, so I can put out 10-20 samples at a time and get observations of use very quickly. It also helps that I am a wildlife consultant and have a number of properties that I can test samples on throughout Michigan.
I looked at several items to determine the effectiveness of the samples. As an example, the easiest variable to identify is the number of sites that deer actually are attracted to.(Not just walking by, but attracted to.) Remember, these samples/ cams are set for one 24 hour period then pulled and observations recorded. I also look at the number of animals that show up at the sample site. But most importantly, I pay particular attention to the reactions of the animals to the sample and while at the site. It is easiy to tell if the animals are there for the attractant, and to evaluate their real interest in the sample. All of my cams are set for 10 sec pic intervals. Needless to say, with all the flashes, the animals can be expected to react to them. Deer that are really interested, will stay right there and walk right up to the camera to investigate the scent. I use the time they are there , the number of PICS taken, the number of times they come back to the site, and their actions at the site as additional items t oevaluate.
Long an short of it is.. Some of the samples do not impress deer at all, some actually cause fright reactioons, some make them alert, to the point where they will not approach closely, some samples get some deer to want to come and look.
Based upon my evaluations of 20+ samples, Jerry has come up with a couple formulas that, IMHO will attract virtually all deer walking by right to the site of the spray. For these samples, once at the site they will stay for extended periods, lick the vegetation/logs/trees etc, paw at the ground, eat the vegetation/bark and even repeatedly return to the site numerous times during the 24 hour test period even with that darn flash blinding them every 10 seconds. With these samples,it is common to get at least a half dozen pics of the same animal before they leave the site.
Another method for using the samples would be to use scent pads hung from limbs or otherwise palced off the ground. For my own hunting areas I use 1X4 felt strips I cut from large pieces of felt fabric.

i too have been spraying the samples on vegetation, bark and limbs at the test sites. I don't normally use 20 squirts probably around 10-12. I've had great success with some of the product while others not so much. the spray containers are a great idea and liked it very much when jerry switched to those.

Jerry,
I'm in SC and I've been following your testings in the various threads and I've also been testing various feed type attractants commercial and such to see what works here. I live on my hunting property so it's pretty convenient, would love the opportunity to test your product and provide pics and results. Let me know if you need anyone in SC. PM your interest and I'll be glad to provide pertinent info and help. Thanks!
